What is the vision for the school?
Bowling Park exists to prepare and support your child into the future, in a happy, healthy and safe environment. We want our children to have the highest expectations of themselves throughout their lives.
Our school is about preparing children for adult life. We continually raise children’s expectations and ambitions for their future, including encouraging an awareness of the range of jobs, the different routes to jobs (including apprenticeships and University) and the benefits of work beyond the financial ones. We want to give all children, regardless of their background, faith, gender, ability or ethnicity, the opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills, be rounded individuals and build character. We intend that children from Bowling Park will, due to the varied curriculum and nurturing support they receive, become happy and harmonious adults, ready to contribute to life in modern Bradford, Britain and the wider world.
With this in mind, our school vision is that our children become:
- Successful learners
- Confident individuals
- Responsible citizens
These three key aims encompass all kinds of skills and attributes which we hope children at Bowling Park will acquire by the time they leave. To do this, we consistently encourage them to be the best they can be by:
- Encouraging children to ‘go the extra mile…to make the extra difference’;
- Helping children to enjoy achieving in an exciting environment;
- Promoting children’s confidence, independence and aspirations;
- Encouraging children to be caring and to take responsibility for making the appropriate choices;
- Nurturing children’s knowledge and respect for their own and other peoples’ beliefs and cultures;
- Working together as a whole school with the support of our parents and the wider community;
- Making school a happy, healthy and safe place to be.
Helping to nurture and develop aspirations in all our children is very important to us. Children at Bowling Park understand that the choices they make here, will help them to lead better lives as they move on through life; to the next key stage, to secondary school and to life beyond.
In recent years, we have had a specific focus on our GEM initiative, which encourages children to ‘go the extra mile’ to make an extra different to their lives, not just in the short term but in the long term too, as they move towards adulthood. We promote this throughout school life, and during our special GEM Days. Children define GEM as:
“It means aiming high”
“Going further in life”
“An extra push that will make a difference to your whole life”
